Hari Aum Dear Sadhakas,
The prevalent view of yoga in the modern world is confined to solely a physical exercise, however this blog gives a view beyond this. Yoga which is rooted in deep ancient hindu principles, is actually a path of self-discovery and spiritual awakening, By delving into the depths of consciousness, yoga facilitates a journey inward to connect the individual self (Jivatman) with the universal self (Paramatman), offering profound insights and spiritual growth.

Question Of The Week
Q - What are the five Yamas of Yoga?
A - The Yamas are ethical guidelines or moral principles in yoga philosophy that provide a framework for personal conduct and ethical behavior. They include Ahimsa (Non-violence), Satya (Truthfulness), Asteya (Non-stealing), Brahmacharya (Continence and Chastity), Aparigraha (Non-possessiveness). These Yamas collectively guide individuals towards ethical conduct, harmonious relationships, and spiritual growth within the framework of yoga philosophy.

The Hindu Way of Life
Santosha (Contentment) emphasizes cultivating contentment and acceptance of oneself and one's circumstances. It involves being grateful for what one has without excessive desire for more. Practicing Santosha fosters inner peace, reduces stress, and promotes mental well-being by embracing the present moment with equanimity.
Reflection of the Week
Growth often requires individuals to confront challenges, obstacles, and discomforts that test their limits and expand their capabilities. Thus struggle may be uncomfortable and challenging, however it serves as a catalyst for personal development, resilience, and ultimately, achieves one's full potential. Embracing and navigating through struggle can lead to transformative growth in various aspects of life.
Ayurvedic health tip of the week
Hashimoto's Thyroiditis
One of the most common causes of hypothyroidism, where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone, is an autoimmune condition called Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I have often found that patients of mine who are hypothyroid have not been further assessed for Hashimoto's. This is an important consideration because if the condition is autoimmune/Hashimoto's, then treatment would necessarily differ. If you or someone you know is hypothyroid but has not assessed for Hashimoto's, please request your doctor to test for the relevant antibodies: anti-TPO and anti-TG.ย

Pilgrimage with Vanamali Mataji
In this episode of the Mahabaleshwar series, Vanamali Mataji is visiting Pratapgad Fort that not only is home to one of the most historic figures of Bharat, but also home to Sri Bhavani Mata and Shiva Mandirs. Shivaji Maharaj built Pratapgad Fort, during a time that was pivotal in Bharat's history. It seemed as if Bhavani Mata Herself was calling to the Mandir. Hardly anyone was there while receiving Her Darshan - the big crystal lingam was worshipped by Shivaji Maharaj himself and he used to carry it around everywhere he went. Further up the fort, there is a Shankar Mandir with a lingam that was underground for many years. It was discovered and made available inside the fort by Shivaji Maharaj. Listen in on Vanamali Mataji sharing the brief history on this wonderful place and receiving Darshan.
