Hari Aum Sadhakas,
Timekeeping in Hindu tradition has always been deeply connected to the celestial movements. Vishu, the Kerala New Year, celebrated on April 14th or 15th, marks a significant astronomical event—Mesha Sankranti, when the Sun enters Aries. This moment aligns with the earth’s revolution around the Sun, a concept known in Vedic astrology as “Mesha Vishuvath.”
Unlike the arbitrary January 1st, Vishu follows the natural cycles of the cosmos, embodying the wisdom of the rishis who precisely mapped time through sidereal calculations. The festival is not just about new beginnings but also about aligning with nature’s rhythms. Vishu Kani, the first sacred sight of the day, symbolizes prosperity, gratitude, and spiritual awakening.
As we step into this cosmic New Year, let us reconnect with nature, embrace Vedic wisdom, and celebrate the divine order that governs both the universe and our lives. Wishing you all a joyous and auspicious Vishu!

Question Of The Week
Q - If everything is impermanent (Anitya), how do we find meaning in life?
A - In Sanatana Dharma, impermanence (Anitya) is not seen as a cause for despair but as a reminder to live with awareness and dharma. True meaning comes from realizing the eternal (Brahman) beyond the transient world and aligning our actions with righteousness (Dharma), devotion (Bhakti), and wisdom (Jnana). By cultivating detachment (Vairagya) and selfless service (Seva), we transcend fleeting experiences and find fulfillment in the divine play (Lila) of existence.

The Hindu Way of Life
Sanatana Dharma teaches that work (Karma) and worship (Bhakti) are not separate but complementary. The Bhagavad Gita (3.19) emphasizes Karma Yoga, selfless action performed as an offering to the Divine. By dedicating all duties to Ishvara with devotion and detachment, one attains inner purity, transcends desires, and realizes the Self while actively engaging in the world.
Reflection of the Week
Encouragement uplifts, motivates, and strengthens confidence, making it easier to overcome challenges. On the other hand, criticism especially if not constructive can create self-doubt and hinder progress. A single word of support can ignite determination, whereas prolonged criticism may only discourage. Positive reinforcement fosters growth and resilience.
Mantra of the Week
ॐ क्लीं कृष्णा क्लीं नमः ॐ क्लीं कृष्णाय नमः
Om Kleem Krishna Kleem Namaha Om Kleem Krishnaya Namaha

Ayurvedic Health Tip of the Week - Lead and Heavy Metal Exposure
Lead toxicity is something I am suspicious of in children with developmental issues (and some adults) including conditions like impaired memory, ADHD, lowered IQ, impaired speech and hearing. These are conditions that can emerge when the exposure to lead is minimal! How does lead toxicity come about? It can sometimes come about from exposure to chipping paints that contain lead. Other common sources include certain toys, dust, furniture, hobbies & occupations of adults, cookware and spices. How to assess for lead toxicity is by doing a blood test for blood levels of lead. Serum blood levels of lead should ideally be LESS THAN 5 micrograms/dL or 50 micrograms/L. If you are positive for lead toxicity, please work with a practitioner who can help your body to detox the lead. If you or your child has symptoms like the above for which the root cause has been difficult to ascertain, consider testing for lead.
