Hari Aum Sadhakas,
Onam is the grandest festival of Kerala, celebrated with joy, devotion, and cultural splendor. Rooted in both history and spirituality, it honors Lord Vishnu’s Vamana avatar and the noble asura king Mahabali, who is believed to visit his people every year during this time. Falling in the Malayalam month of Chingam (August -September), Onam marks the season of harvest and prosperity. Rich in mythology, rituals, and symbolism, the festival beautifully blends devotion with tradition. Colorful pookkalams (floral rangolis), grand feasts, and vibrant boat races showcase Kerala’s unique heritage. Beyond festivity, Onam reminds us of values like truth, humility, and devotion, making it not just a cultural celebration but a spiritual homecoming.

Question Of The Week
Q - How does Sanātana Dharma describe history?
A - In Sanātana Dharma, history is not just a record of past events but a cyclical unfolding of cosmic time through Yugas (Satya, Treta, Dvapara, Kali). It is preserved through Itihāsa (like Rāmāyaṇa and Mahābhārata), Purāṇas, and Vedic scriptures that blend events with spiritual truths. History is seen as the manifestation of dharma and karma across ages, where divine incarnations and sages guide humanity.

The Hindu Way of Life
In Sanātana Dharma, true freedom (moksha) is liberation from the cycle of birth and death (samsāra), achieved through self-realization and union with the Supreme. It goes beyond material or political liberty, emphasizing freedom from ignorance (avidyā), desires, and attachments. Such freedom is attained by living in alignment with dharma, practicing self-discipline, devotion, and knowledge, ultimately realizing the eternal Self (ātman) as one with Brahman.
Reflection of the Week
Challenges in life are not meant to humiliate or expose our weaknesses, but to reveal and strengthen the inner power we already possess. Tests are opportunities for growth, showing us our resilience, patience, and courage. Just as fire purifies gold, difficulties refine our character and bring out our hidden strengths
Mantra of the Week
ॐ विक्रमाय विद्महे, विश्वरूपाय धीमहि, तन्नो वामन प्रचोदयात्।।
Aum Vikramaya Vidmahe Vishwaroopaya Dheemahe Tanno Vamana Prajodayat
This is a very famous Vamana Gayatri, which is recited on Onam days and also on Ekadashi days and is done to the fifth avatar of Vishnu, Vamana Rupa, whose coming is celebrated during Onam. It's very special, especially for those with physical handicaps. It should be chanted regularly by such people and they will get better, that is what is said.

Ayurvedic Health Tip of the Week - A Morning Drink
An idea for a morning drink, to be had on an empty stomach before you consume anything else, is a cup of warm water with the juice of one-half lemon, to be sipped each morning. (Use a metal/wooden straw if you are worried about the acid from the lemon harming your teeth.)This drink will engage the liver, enhance bile flow, increase metabolic rate, and help maintain a balanced pH. The increased bile flow, amongst other things, helps in the prevention of gallbladder stones. This drink is a good idea for many people though, not just those with gallbladder disease.
