Hari Aum Dear Sadhakas,
In the Hindu calendar a year is divided into two parts known as Uttarayanam and Dakshinayanam. Uttarayanam is the north ward movement of the sun starting from January 14 th to July 14th or so. Dakshinayanam is the southward movement of the sun starting from July 16th (2024) to January 14th. This celestial movement is very important in Hinduism as it follows the natural rhythms of life.
So, lets dive in to understand the importance of Dakshinayam and understand this timecycle’s spiritual significance.

Question Of The Week
Q - What is panchanga or hindu calendar?
A - Hinduism follows the Lunar calendar in which every Month has 28 days or two fortnights. The fortnight from new moon to full moon is know as the bright fortnight or Shukla paksha. The fortnight from the full Moon to the new Moon is known as the dark fortnight or Krishna paksha. The Hindu almanac or panchang gives a comprehensive information about the movement of the celestial bodies.

The Hindu Way of Life
Chaturashrama (Four Ashramas) - Brahmcharya (student), Grihastha (householder), Vanprastha (retired), and Sanyasa (renunciation) provide a comprehensive framework for individuals to progress through various stages of life, fulfilling social responsibilities while progressing spiritually towards ultimate liberation or union with the divine. This ancient concept underscores the idea that life should be lived in a balanced manner, with each stage contributing to personal growth, societal harmony, and spiritual fulfillment.
Reflection of the Week
Those who have not experienced or understood the presence of God, the concept or belief in God might seem like a mere illusion or something unreal. Once God is realized, the perception of reality can change significantly. What was once seen as illusory or unreal (God) now becomes a tangible and meaningful reality.

Pilgrimage with Vanamali Mataji
Holika Dahan, a festival celebrated for two days on the Full Moon in the Hindu month of Phalguna. It starts on the night before Holi - the ritual takes place in a huge bonfire in which the demoness Holika is burnt. Vanamali Mataji was in Bhilar during Holi and attended the village celebrations. Not only did She get to visit the temple, She also watched the fire burn down the "demoness" and circumambulated the bonfire. Enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience with Vanamali Mataji. If you wish to learn more about the Festival of Holi, Vanamali Mataji has published a blog at adiveda.substack.com.
